Tamil Nadu BJP state president K Annamalai kept his word of exposing the corrupt activities of DMK. Earlier Annamalai said at the time of releasing the DMK files 1 “ that before his proposed Pada yatra in nook and corner of Tamil Nadu – an outreach programme to highlight the corrupt deeds of Dravidian parties in the last 60 plus years and to spread the Modi led government’s achievements to people in remote inaccessible areas and also strengthen the party at the grassroots level- more files would be released.  Annamalai’s 120-day roadshow on July 28. … The 120-days yatra would end in Chennai by mid-January 2024 ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections

The ‘first DMK file’ was released by the BJP leader on April 14th  this year alleging that then DMK leaders’ assets were “worth Rs 1.34 lakh crore”, as per his assessment. He  also then released a nearly 15-minute video clip “DMK Files (Part-I) ” showcasing the valuation of the assets.

However, all such allegations had been dismissed by the DMK leaders as false and unfounded and they filed defamation cases against Annamalai.  On July 26 , the TN BJP chief said he along his party senior leaders have presented a memorandum seeking Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi’s intervention and suitable action concerning ‘Part 2 of DMK files’ with documents on ‘benami’ connected to the DMK ministers, MLAs and MPs and the first family with three scams for a value of Rs 5,600 crores.

Annamalai seeks governor’s intervention

After submitting the memorandum, Annamalai told media “We have presented a memorandum seeking his Excellency’s intervention and suitable action concerning part 2 of DMK files with documents on benanmi transactions connected to the DMK ministers/MLAs/MPs and the first family and three scams for a value of Rs5,600 crores”.   He also submitted a white paper titled “ Tasmac free Tamil Nadu ”

Annamalai refused to reveal the names of the nine DMK ministers and it would be told during the Pada yatra which he embarked on 28th from Rameswaram. Union Home Minister Amit Shah,  MoS L Murugan and others are attending the launching programme.  Lakhs of cadres registered their names to be part of the yatra which culminates in Chennai early next year.

Alleged scams during DMK government

He  also released a 16-minute video explaining about alleged three scams during the previous DMK government regime. Alleging that about Rs 2,000 scam was in the State Transport Department, Annamalai, in his video, said that irregularities had happened in state-owned Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu’s (ELCOT) subsidy company Elnet Technology Limited in connection with the company’s share transactions to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore.

Alleging a scam in Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation to the tune of Rs 600 crore,   Annamalai demanded “answers” from the DMK government with regard to the series of scams when they were ruling previously.  He said”We will elaborate more on this during our Padayatra to our friends in Press and Media”.

The Tamil Nadu BJP led by Annamalai has decided to organise a state-wide ‘padayatra’ from July 28 to strengthen its party for the coming 2024 general elections and also to counter the DMK government politically. After a few hours of releasing ‘DMK files (Part-2) ‘ to the governor, Annamalai also released a document and submitted to the latter – titled — “white paper on TASMAC-free Tamil Nadu”.

The almost 370-page document, he said “the state of Tamil Nadu has long been reeling from the after-effects of wide-spread alcohol abuse among the youth. Recently, several youths in the state died after ingesting spurious liquor, leading to renewed debates on how to best address the issue”.

“The proliferation of state-run liquor shops have resulted in an increase in alcoholism, and a subsequent degradation of society at large, including deteriorating public health, rising crime, domestic violence and family dissolution, among others”, he claimed. Annamalai said  “A well-planned and implemented ban could lead to improved public health, decreased crime, and a more productive workforce, ultimately resulting in long-term socio-economic benefits”.

Impact of First file of DMK 1

It is to be remembers after release of First file in April resulted in IT and ED raids properties, firms owned by  on most powerful DMK minister V Senthil Balaji, Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi, CM Stalin’s son-i-law Sabareesan,   Udhayanidhi Stalin’s  Redgiant film production offices.  They also  conducted searches on properties of relatives, friends, benami firms. They arrested Senthil Balaji who has been remanded to judicial custody after a month long legal battle and alleged heart surgery done at a DMK owned private hospital.  ED is yet to take him possession for an interrogation. Senthil Balaji has moved SC opposing his arrest and remand which is pending.
