Back to back, Incidents of murder have jolted Bihar as at least six people hailing from different regions of the State were killed by armed miscreants in separate incidents of killing on July 24.

As per the reports, a property dealer from Bhagalpur, a businessman from Sitamarhi, a bank staff hailing from Saran, a medical shopkeeper from Purnia and a businessman along with a youth in Patna have been murdered in a series of separate incidents that occurred in the last 24 hours in the State.

A businessman hailing from Bihar, Sharif, was shot dead by two armed miscreants in broad daylight near Thakurbari road under Kadamkuan police station limits of Patna City. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Prasad. The city police have begun an investigation into the matter, and the CCTV footage pertaining to the incident is being examined, said Patna police in a tweet.

The incident occurred hours after a youth identified as Ankit Kumar was shot dead by unknown armed miscreants at his home in the irrigation department colony under Bihta police station limits on July 23. The police have initiated an enquiry into the matter, and a team of FSL was also called upon to collect evidence from the spot, informed Patna police in a series of tweets.

In another incident reported from the Saran district, an employee of a microfinance company was shot dead by an unknown assailant when the former was travelling to his workplace. The incident occurred when Kunal Kumar Singh, a resident of Usri-Chainpura and son of a former district councillor, was travelling to Ara district when an assailant chased him on a bike and shot him from close range near Aphar village under Amnour police station limits of Saran district.

A medical shopkeeper from the Purnia district was also stabbed to death near Nahar Sautari village under Nagar police station limits on late July 24 evening. The deceased shopkeeper has been identified as Rajeev Mehta, who was heading to his home after the day work when a group of looters attacked him with knives and injured him gravely. Rajeev Mehta was then rushed to the district hospital and was subsequently referred to a private hospital, from where he succumbed to his injuries. The attackers also looted Rajeev Mehta’s motorcycle before fleeing the spot.

In another incident reported from Bhagalpur, a property dealer and his associate were attacked by a group of unknown armed assailants on July 24 evening. The incident occurred in Harnathchak village of Gopalpur police station limits of Naugachia. As per the reports, property dealer Pappu Yadav and his associate were attacked by the goons in the evening, who fired six rounds and fled. Pappu Yadav and his associate Hemnarayan Singh were then rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared Pappu Yadav brought dead.

Meanwhile, slamming the ruling Mahagathbandhan coalition, the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in a tweet, shared a poster of the recent crimes and wrote that ‘those who support the Jungle Raj are having a comfortable time in the State.’

The leader of the Opposition in the State assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha also while lambasting the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that ” Nitish ji, on how many deaths your thirst for power will be fulfilled? you have instilled the Jungle Raj from the backdoor, around a dozen cases of murder took place on a daily basis, you should resign from the post as you are not competent enough.”

Let us tell you that the law and order situation of the State has been under scanner lately, as the Opposition BJP has been continuously accusing the ruling Mahagathbandhan for going soft on criminals and claiming that the State has witnessed a sharp surge in incidents of loot, murder and crime against women.
