Kokrajhar: A 13-year minor Hindu girl was abducted and raped in a moving vehicle by four Muslim men in the Kokrajhar district of Assam, police informed on May 18.

The incident took place on May 16 evening when four Muslim men, namely Rubel Rahman (19), Imran Hussain(19), Mamunur Rahman(24) and Anowar Hussain(20), abducted the 13 years old girl in a vehicle and raped her while driving it on National Highway 31C, police said.

Kokrajhar police have arrested all four rapists. As per the report, the four criminals forcefully took the minor girl inside a moving car near Dotma town on May 16 evening while she was returning from the market. The four criminals gang-raped raped her inside the moving vehicle while roaming almost 13 kilometres on National Highway 31.

The four rapists threw her from the vehicle when the victim became unconscious. Locals found the minor victim lying unconscious on National Highway 31 and informed the police.

A case has been registered at Dotma Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO). The four accused are from Basundenga, Pratapgarhi, under the Tamarhat police station in Dhubri district.

Kokrajhar police arrested them on May 17. It should be mentioned that two minor tribal girls aged 14 and 16 were gang raped and killed by 7 Muslim men on June 11, 2021. The bodies of the two cousin sisters were found hanging in a tree in Abhayakhuti village under Kokrajhar police station. Initially, it looked like a suicide case. But police cracked the case within 48 hours and arrested seven persons for their involvement in the rape and murder case. The seven accused were identified as Muzammil Sheikh, Nazibul Sheikh, Farouk Rahman, Hanif Sheikh, Jahanur Islam, Md. Atab Ali and Sankarde Barman but Muzammil, Nazibul and Farizul were found to be the rapists and murderers of the heinous crime.

In April 2022, a special court in Kokrajhar sentenced Muzammil Sheikh (20), Nazibul Sheikh (19) and Farizul Rahman (22) to death in the rape and murder case.
