Tura: Bangladeshi intruder killed by angry villagers in the international border village of Garo Hills in Meghalaya. Villagers in Purakhasia have lynched a Bangladeshi infiltrator caught on May 1 in the Balujora area of India- Bangladesh border in Meghalaya.
The killed Bangladeshi national has been identified as 43-year-old Monirul Hussain. As per the report, Monirul and two other Bangladeshi nationals crossed Garo Hills territory on May 1. The BSF jawans guarding the border spotted the intruders but couldn’t prevent them from entering Indian soil.
Villagers learned about the infiltrators after Local police searched the village for the three intruders. Angry villagers started searching for the intruders and caught one of them. The intruder confessed to the villagers in fluent Garo language that they had come to carry Ganja from the Indian side.
He was caught around 10:30 PM by the villagers. It should be mentioned that Bangladeshi intruders often cross the border, indulge in anti-social activities, and again flee to the neighbouring country.
The border villagers, who have endured years of trouble from intruders who commit robberies and steal their cattle and other valuables, were unwilling to let the infiltrator go.
Angry villagers started beating the Bangladeshi national before handing him over to authorities. The police team rescued the intruder and took him to the Purakhasia hospital. But he was declared dead by doctors.
The other two intruders are still at large. It should be mentioned that last week two other Bangladeshi men had also managed to cross the border into their area before the BSF caught them. They stayed in the Garo Hills area for two days before BSF finally arrested them. Locals urged the government and BSF to ensure tight vigil on the border so the Bangladeshi intruders couldn’t cross to the Indian side at their will.
