It looks like a concerted move is on to kill the beauty of the Prime Minister’s visit to Kerala on April 24 and 25, 2023. The Kerala unit of BJP received a letter claiming a life threat to the Prime Minister.
PM is visiting Kerala on April 24-25. BJP state President K Surendran informed the media that he had handed over the letter to the state police chief (DGP) immediately after it was received at the BJP Headquarters.
The note bears the name of one Kochi resident Joseph Johny. But Johny denied it. His daughter told the media it was a deliberate plot to trap her father. She says police ascertained that his handwriting did not resemble the letter. She added that there was an altercation between her father and another person concerning their parish church affairs.
Her family members had told the police about this when they came to their house to interrogate Johny. She also said the police said that there was no need to complain at the moment.
Surendran criticised the Home Ministry for leaking the intelligence report to the media in connection with the security threat to the PM. It is a failure of the Home Ministry presided by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Union Minister V Muraleedharan said that the leakage of the intelligence report should be investigated. The leakage is a blatant failure of the home ministry. It lost the capacity to keep secrets. Intelligence report clearly shows the modus operandi of security measures police forces take.
He suspects a deliberate move to leak the report. It is not clear if it was from the police or someone else. It could be a step to create panic among the people who are geared up to participate in the programmes of the PM. It could be a deliberate move to frighten and hence dissuade the people from participating in PM’s roadshow and youths programme, YUVAM.
Reports suggest the Intelligence report asks the police force to take care of the fundamentalist and terrorist forces and the infiltration of the anti-national forces into our country. Radicalised youths join terrorist outfits like IS, etc. It refers to terrorism in view of the Pulwama attack, border tensions, and activities of Islamic fundamentalist organisations like PDP, Welfare Party and Communist Maoist groups.
The report is said to be mentioning the letter K. Surendran received threatening suicide bombing against the PM. It is also reported to be mentioning the arrest of religious fundamentalists from Kanakamala, Kannur district. The Additional Director General of Police is the signatory of the 49-page Intelligence report being circulated on social media. Whether it was genuine or fabricated is yet to be probed into and found out.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry informs that the Prime Minister will get utmost security in Kochi. Special Protection Group (SPG) leaves no stone unturned to assure security to the PM. BJP state president Surendran said that SPG is the best protection group in the whole world. The PM will get foolproof protection during his Kerala visit. The attempts to defeat the PM’s programmes will not bear any fruit.
PM will reach Kochi on April 24 afternoon and takes part in a road show on his way to the venue of “YUVAM”, a youth conclave in Kochi. More than one lakh youths are expected to participate in the programme. Young students and professionals are expected to participate. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) informed that so far the online registrations have crossed 1.5 lakhs.
After spending the night in Kochi, PM will go to the state capital Thiruvananthapuram the following day. There he is expected to flag off the first Vande Bharat Express and dedicate 320 crore worth of projects to the state, including the country’s first Water Metro.
