No action taken even after two months of #MeToo allegations against Alt-News’s Pratik Sinha, netizens demand action

In January 2023, Alt-News's Pratik Sinha was alleged of sexual abuse by a victim on Instagram. As per her statement, Sinha used and exploited her. Even after two months, no action has been taken against Sinha and he leads a normal life. The fact-checking website, where he is working currently, does checks every other thing except for the background and the character of a man working at their organisation

Dark shadows from the past are hovering again on the propaganda website Alt News and one of its founders, Pratik Sinha. Sinha has been charged with sexual harassment allegations under the very known ‘#MeToo’ movement. The victim shared her story through an Instagram handle in January 2023.

Notably, no action was taken against Sinha by the so-called ‘ethical journalism’ brand Alt-News for that matter or its founder Zubair. After the news broke out he wiped off the social space for a week or so and then returned back to normal. He has been working with Alt-News since then. Not even a clarification note came up from his side.

On April 12, a social media user Arnaz Hathiram whose Twitter bio suggests she is the founder of Voice for Men India, quoted a statement from #MeToo India and wrote, “Hi @IndiaMeToo

Why didn’t you post #PratikSinha #MeToo story?

Your credibility is ZERO when you decide which case is genuine or false”

— Arnaz Hathiram Jain (@ArnazHathiram) April 12, 2023

Arnaz alleged that ‘IndiaMeToo’ is intentionally not covering allegations of sexual harassment against Pratik Sinha, co-founder of propaganda website Alt News

The Tweet she quoted read, “Between 2018-2020 dozens of #metoo survivors who spoke up were hit with defamation cases and legal notices. For many in India, there’s little to no access to legal resources. This definitely created a chilling effect and survivors were eventually silenced.”

Arnaz attached an article by the thread that quoted a story by Organiser, where we published the statement of the victim woman making these allegations.

An excerpt from her statement after he had been involved physically with the woman, “During the third week of September 2021, he suddenly sent a message saying that he had been misleading me for the past one-and-half years and that all the verbal assurances he had made about the relationship were mere drama and he hadn’t been truthful about any of those feelings with me. That he was lying about his feelings towards me and also about him being ‘monogamous’ and ‘exclusive’ to me”.

Her statement can be seen here, in an exclusive story by Organiser.

Notably, by the end of the article by Voice for Men, there are some serious allegations listed against IndiaMeToo. As per the article since its inception in 2018, India Me Too has been targeting men following a particular ideology.

The article also states that back in 2018, when such revelations were made under #MeToo the man had to leave his post and position, maintaining the anonymity of the victim.

The list of men losing their position includes even a cabinet minister. Even if the firms allowed them, the so-called feminist brigade will call for a social assassination of their image and public life, leaving them to have nothing but guilt.

However, in the case of Pratik Sinha, no such move came up.

He has been working like usual, and shockingly there is no demand from the mainstream media or activists and feminists for his resignation.

While speaking with the media Arnaz said, “Ironically, when men from another side of the political spectrum were being called out, the #MeToo movement became very selective. I clearly remember how Anurag Kashyap, despite an FIR against him, was labelled as innocent by the same champions who ran #BelieveAllWomen campaigns.”

Alt News which claims to be a fact-checking website did not check the facts against Sinha to date. They are endorsing a person with serious allegations of sexual abuse to work with them.

The victim on the other hand even after opening up in such details gets no justice from Sinha’s side. Having seen the operations at Atl-News in the past, for example, Nupur Sharma and Kajal Hindustani recently, it is difficult to even claim that the victim is safe and sound.
