Maharashtra: Police files FIR against Sahil Mohd for wife’s rape, unnatural sex and forcing wife to follow Islam

On March 7, Maharashtra Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against one Sahil Mohammed Shakir Sayyed on rape and death threats allegations. The complainant, Sahil Mohammed’s wife, filed a complaint against him for alleged rape and death threats. She also claimed that he forced her to follow Islamic practices.

Maharashtra Police has registered the FIR u/s 376 [Punishment for rape], 377 [Unnatural offences], 504 [Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace] & 506 [Punishment for criminal intimidation] of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and u/s 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s) and 3(2) of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

According to OpIndia’s reports, Sahil Mohammed and the complainant were married as per Islamic rituals, after which she took an Islamic name and started residing with Sahil Mohammed in Mukundnagar in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district. The couple resided together till December 21, 2022.

On December 21, 2022, the complainant’s friend called to inform her about Sahil Mohammed’s actions. She told the complainant that he called and harassed her at night. Furthermore, she told the complainant that he also insulted her over the phone.

Furthermore, the complainant received a call from Sahil Mohammed threatening to kill her, after which she complained to the police. Then, the police resolved the issue between the two, after which the couple went home. However, after the couple reached home, he tried to kill her with an axe for filing a complaint. She stated in the complaint that she attempted suicide after drinking a bottle of poison stored in the house, after which she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The complainant said in her complaint that Sahil Mohammed asked her to reside with her maternal aunt till January 10. Meanwhile, he started living with another woman in their marital home. Furthermore, he tried to persuade her to reside with him and another woman at home, to which the complainant refused and went to stay with her sister.

However, Sahil Mohammed barged into the complainant’s sister’s house, where he assaulted, raped, had unnatural sex with her repeatedly and threatened to kill her. She said, “He (Sahil Mohammed) raped me and forced me to stay with him and his new wife. He also told me that he wanted to establish sexual relations with me and his new wife at the very same time. He said he wanted to see how it feels. I refused. He then threatened me and used abusive language for my family”, in her complaint.

The complainant also alleged that Sahil Mohammed borrowed about Rs. 50,000/- from her and is refusing to return her the amount. She also stated that he has refused to return her belongings, including her clothes and wedding jewellery. In addition, she alleged that he insults her with derogatory remarks, telling her that she’s worthy of being a sweeper.

The complainant stated in her complaint that Sahil Mohammed was previously married to two women, one of whom is deceased.
