Around a year back, a senior citizen Malambika Sinha in Ranchi, was butchered to death by accused Mohammad Aurangzeb and Nafar.
Her only fault was that she trusted them and also served them food before promising them to give work for what they had come to her.
Malambika had hired one Naushad who was contractor for painting work and this man helped Aurangzeb escape after committing the heinous crime for he was his uncle.
The three had reportedly done some painting work at her house during Diwali, but some work was pending.
They therefore approached her during Holi to get this work done.
Trusting them, she opened the door and served them food. However, two of them namely Aurangzeb and Nafar attacked her, cashing in on her trust.
While Aurangzeb slashed and stabbed her on her neck, Nafar started looting the house.
The accused fled from the house, leaving her dead in a pool of blood.
Naushad, the contractor and uncle of Aurangzeb, helped the duo escape.
The husband of the deceased who was out for some work was surprised to see his wife dead after his return.
Despite being in a sombre mood, the old man lodged a complaint at the police station. There was a severe outrage in the town as Vijay Sinha, husband of Malambika, was a known name who was actively participating in many temple activities too.
After a thorough investigation, Malambika Sinha murder case was cracked by the police. All the three accused involved in his murder were arrested. This incident took place on March 18 at Ashok Nagar road number four.
The criminals entered the bungalow of retired bank employee Vijay Sinha at 12.15 pm on the pretext of seeking work, said police officials adding, “Their intention was to loot the house. They brutally murdered Vijay Sinha’s wife Malambika Sinha by stabbing her with a knife.”
In this case, Vijay Kumar Sinha, the deceased’s husband, registered the case at the Argora police station. After getting information about the case, the then Ranchi SSP Surendra Jha formed the SIT and directed to execute the case soon.
Taking the matter seriously, the police arrested all the three accused involved in the incident. The arrested accused include Mohammad Aurangzeb, Mohammad Nafar and Naushad Ansari. During interrogation, Aurangzeb told that the woman was murdered after looting
The accused told about running away from the woman’s house with four mobile phones and watches. Four mobiles and two knives used in the incident were recovered from the arrested accused.
Aurangzeb, involved in the incident, told the police that he had also come to the deceased’s house earlier and had done painting work there. On the other hand, the arrested Naushad confessed his crime before the police and said that he had helped escape these two accused.
The criminals had carried out the robbery in the greed of money. The woman was attacked with a knife 15 times for not getting the money. On the afternoon of March 18, when the retired bank employee went out for some work, the criminals carried out the incident. It was told that the criminals demanded money from the woman, and when she refused, they murdered her.
Surprisingly, around a year after the incident, the Jharkhand High Court released the main accused Aurangzeb on bail, despite the fact that the accused had confessed to their crime and much evidence also proved the same. Earlier, Naushad was also bailed out.
In its order, the High Court said, “Heard the parties. The applicant, who is in custody since 25.03.2022, has approached this Court for grant of regular bail. The applicant is an accused of committing offence under Sections 394, 302 & 34 of the Indian Penal Code. It has been submitted by the counsel for the applicant that complete set of FIR along with its enclosure have been annexed with this bail application and there is no suppression on his part. Innocence of the applicant has been claimed and undertaking has been given for participation in the trial.”
“It has been submitted that the one of the co-accused-Md.Naushad Ansari, has already been enlarged on bail by a Co-ordinate Bench of this Court. On the above basis, prayer for bail has been made. Learned counsel for the State has opposed the prayer for bail. Considering the above facts, the applicant, named above, is directed to be released on bail, on furnishing bail bond of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of the learned Judicial Magistrate, Ranchi in connection with Argora P.S. Case No. 84 of 2022, subject to condition that the applicant will submit self-attested photocopy of his Aadhaar Card and also submit his mobile number before the learned court below which he will always keep active and will not change it during pendency of this case without prior permission of the court.”
Meanwhile, the family of Malambika is in tears. They trusted the judiciary the most, however are stunned by this decision.
“We will go to the higher bench and shall fight till we get justice for our mother, said Rohit Sinha, her son.
He said that FSL report has confirmed that blood stains found on Auragzeb’s clothes matched with that of Malambika Sinha. Still this bail. Why, he questioned.
The woman’s husband has been running from pillar to post to get justice. In fact, at the age of 82, he had to leave his house, which he made with his hard-earned money, to go to the United States which he never wanted, and hence after a few months, he returned to his roots.
But somewhere, the black eyes of this old man can be seen questioning if he will ever get justice in his own country when he is alive.
