A controversy has erupted regarding the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University IIM Road in Lucknow. Dr Azam Ansari, warden of the hostel, allegedly stopped the students from celebrating Shivaji Jayanti.

The students have alleged that Shivaji’s photo was forcibly removed from the hostel premises. A video of the instance has also gone viral on social media. At the same time, the university administration has said that the students had not taken permission to celebrate Shivaji Jayanti.

Proctor Prof Neeraj Shukla said that the students had not taken any permission from the University Administration. The peace could be disturbed by doing such a program, so the students were barred from celebrating Shivaji’s Jayanti.

Earlier, on February 20, members of the BJP’s students’ wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), accused students of Left-backed affiliates of also being behind the desecration of a portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary, at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on February 19.

While the ABVP installed a portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maharaj in the JNUSU Office, a room where Naxalites had even installed portraits of mass murderers like Lenin and Hinduphobic leeches like EVR Ramaswamy Naicker. A Naxalite goon named Lata (who is an outsider) runs a Naxalite “study circle” named after the Maoist policy of genocide in PCR. They threw the portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Jyotiba Phule and Maharana Pratap into the dustbin.

Earlier, it accused the Congress-backed National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) of orchestrating the vandalism at the office of the JNU students’ body.

The ABVP also put forward the demand of naming the JNUSU office after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. ABVP activists also protested while accusing the Left-backed student activists of ‘insulting’ Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

ABVP JNU Secretary Umesh Chandra Ajmera stated, “We had put up a portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the walls outside the student activity centre as a mark tribute. But the Communists couldn’t digest this and vandalised the portrait “.

Further, he alleged that those involved in the incident were outsiders who entered the campus without permission. The ABVP Secretary urged the JNU administration to take strict action against the accused and stop such attempts to destroy the ambience on campus.
