Loharu: On February 16, two charred bodies were found in a burnt Bolero SUV in Loharu, Haryana. The police have ascertained that the SUV connects to the disappearance of two men, Junaid and Nasir. However, the police are yet to ascertain the identities of the bodies. The news comes a day after a FIR was filed for the disappearance of Junaid and Nasir, alleging that the two were kidnapped by members of Bajrang Dal.
It is being reported that the two men were cow smugglers who left in the SUV for work and were intercepted by a mob who assaulted and abducted them. It is being reported that the two men were abducted by the men linked to a Hindu organisation. However, the police said that they are still investigating whether the case is about cow vigilantism.
Dr Surendra Jain, Central Joint General Secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has said that “it is extremely unfortunate to find some charred skeletons in a burnt vehicle at Loharu, Haryana! Whether this fire took place accidentally or was set by someone, it is yet to be investigated. The car belongs to Rajasthan, but the identity of the skeletons is a matter of investigation. The culprits must be punished after fair investigation of the case. This is our clear opinion.”
Furthermore, he said that “two cow smugglers are missing from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, against whom many cases of cow smuggling are already going on. A smuggler’s brother has expressed doubts about some of the prominent names of Bajrang Dal. It seems that without preliminary investigation, the Rajasthan Police has assumed that the names taken by the smuggler’s brother are responsible for the incident.” He further complained of the Rajasthan government’s bias in investigating the case, alleging that the investigation is “influenced by vote bank politics” as a “matter of their political agenda.” He stated that Bajrang Dal’s name being “dragged unnecessarily into this matter cannot be considered fair.”
Mohit Yadav, alias Monu Manesar, is one of the six Bajrang Dal members named in the FIR. He has denied the allegations raised against him in a video statement uploaded to social media and demands a “strict action against the perpetrators” involved in the case.
Vinod Bansal, National Spokesperson, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has said “Even the society there, doesn’t expect justice from the Rajasthan government which suffers from political bias. Therefore, VHP demands that:
1. There should be a CBI inquiry into this matter;
2. Till the completion of the investigation, no person should be arrested merely on the basis that his name has been taken by the brother of the cow smuggler;
3. On completion of the investigation, the culprits should be severely punished;
4. The Rajasthan government, guilty of taking the name of Bajrang Dal unnecessarily, should apologize for this false allegation.”
