On January 29, 2023, the Maharashtra police arrested a 22-year-old man named Imtiaz Chaudhary for assaulting and raping his ex-girlfriend in Kashmira Lodge, he also recorded the incident and began to blackmail her.
The victim broke ties with the accused after he refused to marry her due to their different faiths.
According to the police, Imtiaz has been in a relationship with the girl since 2021. The saga began when the victim refused to respond to the accused calls and messages. This irked Imtiaz, who also threatened to share private photographs and videos of the woman if she failed to turn up.
Feeling Apprehended, the woman agreed to turn up.He then summoned the woman to a room where he began to assault her sexually. He also spat several times on the floor and forced her to lick her spit.
He then released her and threatened her with death if she failed to comply with his demands. However, the victim went to the Kashimira Police Station and filed a case with the help of her friend and a social activist.
On February 1, after the report, the Kashimira Police filed an FIR against Imtiaz under sections 376 (rape), 377 (sodomy), 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
After learning that an FIR had been filed against him, the accused switched off his mobile phone and is on the run. He is continuously switching his phone on and off and repeatedly changing his location.
He is active on social media. The police have stated that he will soon be caught and arrested. Another police officer stated that they have added that statements from the hotel staff have also been recorded.
