Wanted Maoist held in Aurangabad; security forces unearthed Maoist dump in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Security forces in Bihar arrested a wanted communist terrorist from Bishnupur village under Tandwa police station of insurgency-hit Aurangabad on February 3.

As per the reports, acting on a tip-off, a joint team of SSB and Jharkhand police raided a premise in Bishnupur. It arrested an active cadre of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of CPI Maoist.

The accused has been identified as Dablu Vishwakarma alias Shakti; he has been hunted since 2018 in connection with an extortion case filed against him by one Ram Pravesh Mehta in the Hussainabad of Palamu in Jharkhand.

It’s been learnt that after the arrest, the SSB handed over the accused to the Hussainabad police, after which he was taken to Hussainabad; Bablu had two other cases filed against him as well, informed Hussainabad police.

Ammunition seized in Chakarbandha

In other news, a joint team of security forces composed of personnel from the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and CRPF recovered a huge stock of cartridges near the Langurahi area of Chakarbandha in Aurangabad.

A press release of Aurangabad police read that the joint team was out on a regular combing exercise in the area adjacent to the western hill of Chakarbandha when they recovered the cartridges hidden in a plastic bucket.

Maoist dump unearthed in Kalahandi 

In a separate development, security personnel have recovered a Maoist dump in the Bhurati forest area under Narala police station limits of Kalahandi in Odisha.

It’s been learnt that a team of CRPF was out on a combing operation in the region when they stumbled upon the hidden dump, following which Gun powder, detonators, codex wires, medical necessities, along with communist literature, have been unearthed.

Following the unearthing of the Maoist dump, search operations have been intensified in the vicinity, informed an official familiar with the development.

Earlier, in a similar operation launched on February 1, CRPF had also seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from Latehar in Jharkhand; the recovery included two SLR rifles, 13 assorted magazines, 470 assorted rounds, along with an insas rifle.
