Two vehicles engaged in road construction work were torched by the Ultras in the Maoist-affected Chintalnaar police station limits of Sukma in Chhattisgarh on January 21.

It’s been learnt that the armed cadres of the proscribed CPI – Maoist set ablaze a tractor and a poclain machine near Morpalli road under Chintalnaar police station limits; the Ultras also beat the labourers and warned them against working without prior permission.

Confirming the incident, SDPO Jagargunda, Vijay Rajput, said that this exposes the anti-development character of the Ultras. All small contractors have already been instructed to carry out the development work with adequate security arrangements; however, in some cases, they refuse to have personnel on the ground that paves the way for the Maoist to wreak havoc, added Vijay.

It should be noted that Maoists have been halting the construction projects through all means, fearing that development in the region shall only harm them in the long run.

Female Maoist, with a reward of 8 lakh, surrendered in Sukma

In another significant development on the Maoist front, a senior female cadre of the banned CPI-M surrendered before the security forces in the district on January 21.

As per the reports, the surrendered cadre has been identified as Vetti Mangi of battalion no 1 of PLGA (armed unit of CPI-M) of the Mand division of the outlawed outfit.

Vetti has been a member of the proscribed group for five years; she had participated in many offensives against the forces, and a bounty of Rs 8 lakhs has already been placed on his head, confirmed an official familiar with the development.

The said surrender is facilitated before the officials of the Special Task Force (STF) and Chhattisgarh police, “Vetti has surrendered under the ‘Poorna Narkom’ (New Morning in Gondi dialect), she will be provided all the necessary help under the rehabilitation scheme, said Bhowesh Shende Thana Incharge Kistaram police station.”

NIA put-up poster in Koraput

While in another Maoist-related news, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has put-up posters of four hardcore Ultras in Koraput of Odisha, and the agency has put-up these posters in connection with the 2012 murder case of a BSF official in Koraput.

The four Maoists whose posters have been put up are Gajrala Ravi, Khilo Manju, Jalumari Shrinu and Meturu Rao, all active members of the banned CPI- Maoists.

They have been involved in many cases across multiple states, and a total cash reward of 23 lakhs has been announced on them; the name of the informant shall be kept secret, said an official of the investigative agency.

A bounty of Rs 10 lakh has been placed on Gajrala Ravi, while a cash reward of 5 lakhs has been announced on Jalumari and Meturu each, and a bounty of Rs 3 lakh has been placed on Khilo, learnt the Organiser.
