Union Home Minister Amit Shah started his tour of North Eastern states in Tripura on January 05. On January 06, he is likely to visit Manipur and Nagaland.

Addressing public meetings at Dharmanagar in the North District and Sabroom in the South District of the State after the launch of the party’s ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ in Tripura, Shah said the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be inaugurated on January 01, 2024.

He said that Congress and CPI(M) had hindered the construction of the Ram temple and put the issue in the court’s jurisdiction for a long time. The Home Minister said Tripura had progressed in every sector after BJP came into power in the State.

He also pointed out that, since BJP came into force in 2018 in Tripura, once a Communist bastion, the “double engine governments” have successfully delivered welfare to the people of the State in terms of connectivity, social welfare, health care and also agriculture.

The Jan Vishwas Yatra, which featured a caravan of decorated vehicles filled with BJP party workers, was launched from Dharmanagar and Sabroom. The yatra will hold 200 street meetings while covering a distance of 1,000 km. The rallies will culminate in Agartala on January 12 in the presence of the BJP’s National President, JP Nadda.

The purpose of Tripura BJP’s ‘Jan Viswas Yatra’ is to showcase the developmental works done by the BJP Government since 2018. The eight-day programme will cover 60 constituencies in the state.

Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya may go to the polls next month.BJP National President JP Nadda is scheduled to be present on the concluding day of the Yatra on January 12 in Tripura.

In his address, Amit Shah indicated that BJP would prefer incumbent Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to return as the Chief Minister. Addressing a mammoth gathering at Sabrum in South Tripura, the Home Minister asked for votes in the ensuing elections to ‘strengthen’ the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the centre and Dr Saha in Tripura, sources said.

Amit Shah also referred to Dr Saha’s achievements within a short time in implementing the centrally sponsored schemes that lifted Tripura to the third position among the small states.

During his visit to Manipur, Amit Shah is set to inaugurate projects worth over Rs 300 crore and lay the foundation stones for projects worth around Rs 1,000 crore in the BJP-ruled State.

At Dimapur in Nagaland, the Home Minister will meet Chief Minister and NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio and also inaugurate projects worth Rs 51.52 crore, sources said.
