Lucknow: On January 02, Madrassa Education Council Chairman Iftikhar Ahmed Javed ensured that the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madrassas had started preparations to provide modern education and religious instruction within the madrassas.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education, the Union Government, has already extended its financial assistance to madrassas to develop their educational standards in as many as 18 states. According to records, there are over 10,000 madrassas in 4 states of India, where over 20 lakh students study. The highest number of these madrassas are in Uttar Pradesh, where more than 18 lakh students are studying in more than 8000 madrassas.
“Madrassa children will also study the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus this year. Modern education will be given along with religious education,” said the Chairman.
Further, in the new academic year, the focus of UP madrassas will be more on ‘modern’ education. He also mentioned, “Now madrassa children will be able to study Computers, Maths, Science.”
The new syllabus of madrassas will be released in March. “Pre-Primary classes such as KG, LKG and UKG studies will begin from March,” the Chairman added. (with further inputs from ANI)
