Gita Gopinath, Vice President of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said in Delhi that despite global crises, Bharat is in a satisfactory economic state. Consumer’s demand and also consumption have increased in the country. Gita was speaking to a magazine.

The world undergoes terrible crises. And the world faces issues badly in need of international cooperation. Securities for food and energy are the most serious challenge the world faces. G20, led by Bharat, has a crucial role in solving it. Compared to other countries, Bharat is shining. Many countries are likely to have reduced GDP this year and next year. Bharat is filling the gap caused by the fall in economic growth in 2020. Bharat has regained the position she occupied before the Covid-19 pandemic. Inflation is below the level permitted by the Reserve Bank of India. It is because of the fall in the price of edible items. Now, the authorities must make sure that it stays the same. Enough precaution is required for it.

Gita is a Keralite, but she belongs to Chennai. When CPM supremo Pinarayi Vijayan formed his first government in May 2021, he appointed Gita Gopinath as the Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister. It was a grand design to demoralize T.M Thomas Isaac, the Finance Minister, in his government. There were reports that dark clouds had formed between the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister. So, by appointing Gita, co-director of the International Finance and Macroeconomics Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research. A visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and a member of the economic advisory panel of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, he was sending a message to Isaac that he did not give much importance to him. Ironically, CPM had been campaigning against IMF and the employer above Gita for a long because they were ‘bourgeois tools of the imperialist forces against the proletariat and third world countries”.
