Continuing his attack to demolish the false narrative set by the Dravidian parties, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi said political parties will continue to create division on regional, linguistic, caste and sub-caste lines for mobilization of support base and clinging on to power.

Speaking at the Valedictory two-day workshop on “Ek Bharath, Shreshta Bharat (Ore Bharatham, Unnatha Bharatham-connecting India series” on 10th and 11th October, he called upon the students to rediscover, understand and appreciate bharat and move forward with self-confidence. He urged them to negate the colonial mindset, which is one of the “Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal” given by our PM Narendra Modi.  Governor underscored “the growth of the nation rests in the growth of the people which will take Bharat to the global summit of leadership by 2047. I wish success to the students in their endeavour and for leading the nation for a comprehensive resurgence”.

While inaugurating the same on 10th, the governor said “Dravida in the National Anthem meant all the southern states, but now it is being reduced to look like the identity of just Tamils.  But in reality, Bharat is not split by boundaries. To under the country, you (students) have to understand Bharat, with thousands of years of its rich civilization, which did not divide by boundaries. Indian was never the name of the Bharat, it was given by outsiders”.

Ravi said, “politics has coloured the thinking and political parties are keeping people split for political gains. States were formed on linguistic basis. But now people of other states who have been living here for several years. They are migrants from Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is because of politicians it has shrunk Dravida means to Tamils. Politicians have narrowed down their sight.   What is this? It has created a distance between you and me, us and they, thus political parties have divided us.  They will continue to create divisions on regional, linguistic, caste, sub-caste to polarize and form a firm support base to remain in power uninterruptedly.  The core strength is our cultural and spiritual strength.  We should bear this in mind. Ours is a socio-cultural civilization, evolution that has happened over several thousand years. So cultural and spiritual identities is the soul of the country. That is what unites us”.

The Governor said people would say India is a big country, surrounded by mighty Himalayas and Oceans.  It is not a mere spread of land or its people. Over and all, it has its own uniqueness. During the British rule and after that, each state has a ruler and they after conquering new areas would realign the state boundaries. We have our own Constitution after we attained Freedom from colonial rulers. Ours is federal structures.  We have states and Central governments.  There is no truth that British had united the country.  Bharat has never been under a single ruler.  Britishers, being a monarch, had followed the same system in India, which was not liked the natives. Bharat’s sovereignty is on the dharmic principles which the yesteryears kings followed.  People dethroned them, if they violated the same”.

Tracing the history, Ravi said Britishers formed East Bangladesh where Muslims were more in numbers and West Bengal where Hindus were majority.  All opposed the move vehemently.  Following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, several resigned their government jobs only to join the freedom movement.  Bharat is the real name. Subrmanya Bharati, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and other poets wrote and praised Bharat. Philosophers, poets, scholars had spoken and written about Bharat.  It is a mixture of social, cultural, civilizational, economical and spiritual. We should try to understand whom we are, what our identity which we have learnt it not fully.  In earlier days, our country well-developed in civilization, economic spheres that bound the people. This could not find in your text books. During the fourth century era from Pataliputhiram as its capital, Chandra Gupta Mouriya ruled the nation. And his
Rajguru travelled from the length and breadth of the country, and none had stopped him from doing so. He had crossed several kingdoms of various sizes. A Kanchipuram based Prince studied in Nalanda University who later became the Bodhi Dharmar. He sailed to China, where he was honoured and welcomed.  Similarly, Korakka Siddhar travelled to Triupura, Peshawar and all over the country. Those days, people had no restriction to visit any place of their choice. After the 1965 re-organization of states on the basis of language, people are following the “ you and me are not one and same; we are different” attitude.  But the culture and spirituality have united the people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari”.

Political observers feel it is a snubbing for the DMK, DK and its allies who have been repeating and pushing Dravida naadu separatehood demand and their false narratives to achieve their goal. It is to silence of broaching shudras, Hindus, varna and manu smirithi based society, Dravida and Aryan theory.  He has recently praised Thirukkural and faulted the GU Pope for translating the same in English and de-spiritualization.
