The National Crime Records Bureau shows In 2021, over 30% of all detenues in Indian prisons were Muslims even though the community’s share in the population is only 14.2% In 2021. In 2020, of a total 488,511 prisoners, 19.1% (93,774) were Muslims. The population share of Muslims in India is pegged at 14.2% (204 million). The data showed that 19.5% of all under trials and 17.4% of all convicts in Indian jails were Muslims. More than 30% of detenus and 57.2% of other prisoners were Muslims. Their numbers disproportionate to the minority community’s population share.
According to the data, the percentage of under-trial prisoners in jails comprise mostly of Muslims, although the majority of them do not get convicted of their crimes. Mind you, their percentage in jails make much more than the entire Muslim population in the respective states at minority level. Imagine what would happen when they become majority.

Be that as it may, The Tirupur North police set up teams to arrest a law student Abdul Rahuman Khan (26) who attempted to murder a law student Amirnisha (20) and her mother B. Jameela Banu, a special public prosecutor of Mahila Court in Tirupur on 18th. Abdul has been stalking Amirnisha and based on her complaint, he was arrested on 22nd August . He came out of prison on conditional bail recently. On Sunday he attacked Amirnisha and her mother with a sickle and fled. they are being treated at a hospital.
In Virudhunagar district, at Nathampatti RC High school social science teacher Stephen Antonyraj (52) was arrested under POCSO for sexual harassment to 8th standard girl. Her parents and relatives gathered in front of the school demanding his arrest. Police booked him under POCSO act and arrested him.
In Thoothukudi district, government aided primary school Head master Anandraj (56) was arrested for sexually assaulting a 5th standard student. Police registered a case under Pocso act. He is now cooling his heels behind bars.
Hospital staff Robert Edison (44) was arrested at Thanjavur medical college hospital for misbehaving and sexually assaulting a woman patient who was in an unconscious state the administration of anesthesia injection for a surgery. When the woman was regaining her consciousness, she found him sexually assaulting her. On hearing her cries, people gathered. Based on her complaint Edison was arrested. He has been suspended by the hospital.
In Coimbatore, 62-year-old grocery shop owner Natraj was arrested for molesting 15 minor girl students, aged between 9 and 13 in the last four years. The girls, who attended project school ’ organized by rural police to create awareness on child sexual abuses. A 13-year-old told her headmistress that she was sexually abused by a grocery shop owner when she visited the shop. When asked whether any girls had such experience, 14 stood up and narrated their ordeal by Natraj.
