Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a single day dedicated development works of Rs 3050 crore to five tribal districts of South Gujarat in the presence of a huge gathering at Khudvel in Navsari.
In his address, Mr Modi threw up a challenge to the critics to showcase any single week which had not been devoted to development by his government at the centre.
The mega show was held at the Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan at Khudvel in Navsari.
The Prime Minister in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development works of Water supply, Health services, Roads and Buildings, Energy and Urban Development Department at a cost of a whopping Rs 3050 crore in the districts of Navsari, Surat, Valsad, Tapi and Dang.
Mr Modi dedicated Rs 900 crore development projects, laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 650 crore and Bhumi Pujan of various development works of Rs 1500 crore.
He inaugurated 7 schemes, laid the foundation stone for 12 schemes and did Bhumi Pujan of 14
schemes — all wrapped in a single day.
The Prime Minister also did Bhumi Pujan of the newly constructed Government Medical College and Hospital to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 542 crore in Navsari.
“Our government has provided housing, electricity, toilets, gas connection, safe drinking water to the poor, deprived, backward, tribal areas including women. Moreover our government succeeded in fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of millions of people,” Mr Modi said.
The state of Gujarat has the benefit of the ‘double engine’ government and thus people’s expectations have only grown manifold.
Mr Modi said – he has learnt a lot from tribal families. Their cleanliness, neatness and disciplinary acts are exemplary.
The Prime Minister also lauded the fact that tribal society combines community life with water, land and forest and also protects it.
He said, eight years ago he (Modi) was “blessed and sent to Delhi to serve the nation with high hopes” and added that empowering the poor is a priority and commitment of his government.
Modi fondly recollected that as the Chief Minister, he had launched a campaign to start science stream schools in tribal areas, children belonging to tribal areas are much talented, but unfortunately, they did not get a chance to become a doctor or an engineer.
“But the journey that started with the campaign to start a science stream school has now extended to engineering, medical colleges”.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence and said that about 10 lakh people will benefit from health-oriented services because of the medical college and hospital that will be constructed at the cost of Rs 542 crore in Navsari.
The Prime Minister said banking and health were often issues in this region.
“But, we have given free vaccines to all the people. We opened them bank accounts. We have launched a campaign to provide scheme benefits to 100 per cent beneficiaries so as to empower the poor by targeting their welfare,” he said.
The Prime Minister lauded the efficiency of the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel by saying that the Gujarat Government has also launched a vigorous campaign
to cover 100% of the beneficiaries.
“Some people say developments are done only when elections are around the corner. But my challenge to these people is to find a single week in which we have not done development work, Mr Modi said adding in his own style that development is not a matter of politics for him and his party.
“….but it is an opportunity for public service commitment and public welfare,” he said adding this is the reason the BJP leaders and he too get blessed every time from the people.
On the Astol project, the Prime Minister said — “we are proud to say that, ‘Neva na pani Mobhe’ has reached a height of 200 storeys and delivered drinking water to the homes of tribal families.”
On this occasion, Chief MinisterBhupendra Patel said that the Prime Minister has shown the way of the politics of development.

He said that it is a matter of pride that Gujarat has taken steps to take the agriculture sector to new heights. Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai, multiple development works in education, health, security and well-being will give a new direction to Gujarat’s self-reliance, the Chief Minister said.
