Chandru was out on Monday (April 4) night to celebrate his friend’s birthday. Little did he realise that it would be his last day in this world.

After distributing the cake among friends, Chandru and his friends decided to have some chicken rolls. Chandru insisted they have it, although other friends tried to convince them that it was already past midnight and it would be difficult to get the chicken roll.

Chandru and host Simon Raj moved out to search for chicken roll. While searching for a shop, Chandru’s bike brushed passed on Shahid Pasha. It led to some minor altercation.

Suddenly, Shahid called his other friends to teach Chandru a lesson. In no time, Shahid Pasha, Shahid Goli and one juvenile started stabbing Chandru.

The incident was recorded on a CCTV nearby. Shahid and his friends could be seen brandishing swords.

Commenting on the incident, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said, “In the midnight of 05.04.2022, Simon Raj and Chandru [ 22 years, r/o Cottonpete, Christian by community] had gone to an eatery on Mysore Road. While returning back on their bike, they collided with another bike, being ridden by one Shahid. It led to a quarrel, which was joined by others. During the fight, Shahid stabbed Chandru on his right thigh and assailants fled from the spot. Chandru was shifted to Victoria hospital, where he succumbed to injury. All the 3 accused persons are arrested.”

The Police could not explain what Shahid and his friends were doing with knives and swords in the middle of the night.

On February 20, Islamists in Karnataka had stabbed to death 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Harsha for writing a Facebook post opposing burqa in classrooms.

Amid the burqa controversy in Karnataka, which started in the first week of February, Congress leader Mukarram Khan had said on February 8 that those opposing burqa would be ‘chopped to pieces’. His video has gone viral on different social media platforms.

Later, the investigation had revealed that the Islamist organisation, Popular Front of India (PFI), was fanning the Islamist sentiment in the region and was the major force that orchestrated the burqa controversy in the state.
