Prime Minister said that the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits was such a big incident, but no genuine movie was produced based on it because attempts were made to hide the truth about it.
The Kashmir Files is bringing out facts about an incident that was suppressed for years by the ecosystem, and the same ecosystem is running campaigns to discredit the film, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (March 15) in Delhi.
He was addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting in Ambedkar Bhavan in Delhi. "The entire Jamaat, which claims to be the flag-bearer of freedom of expression, has been furious for the last 5-6 days. Instead of reviewing the film on the basis of facts and art, there's a conspiracy to discredit it," said PM Modi.
He added, "Those who think that this film is not right should make their own film. Who's stopping them? But, they are surprised that the truth that they kept hidden for so many years is coming out. Those who live for the truth have a responsibility to stand with the truth at such a time."

On August 14 last year, PM Modi announced that the day would be remembered as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Recalling it, the prime minister said when it was decided last year that horrors of partition would be remembered on August 14, many people got disturbed. He asked, "How could the country forget the horrors of the partition?"
The Kashmir Files is a movie about the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits and is directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. The film was released in theatres worldwide on Friday (March 11). Multiple attempts were made to stall the production and release of the film.
PM Modi said, "My concern is not just the film. I believe that it is beneficial for the nation to bring out the truth in the right way. It can have many aspects. Some see one thing, others see something else. Those who think that this film is not right should produce their own movie. Who had stopped them?" He added that the same ecosystem is rattled as more and more facts are coming out, the facts which they have suppressed for years.
Since the movie's release, there has been a growing demand to produce authentic movies about other genocides in the country, including the Bengal genocide, the Marichjhapi genocide, the Partition genocide and the Mopla genocide.
