Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to win with an absolute majority as per the available results and present trending in the 60 seats of Manipur legislative assembly elections.
According to sources till 2 PM on Thursday (10 March), BJP has won 14 seats out of the 26 constituencies. Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, won from Heingang seat with a thumping margin of around 19000 votes, while former ministers like Th Radheshayam Singh, Nemcha Kipgen, Karam Shyam and Th Satyabarta Singh won from Heirok, Kangpokpi, Langthabal and Yaiskul seats.
SS Olish of Chandel won against Langhu Paulhring Anal of NPF (Naga People’s Front) with the highest margin of nearly 25000 votes.
BJP’s Dingenglung Dangmei defeated the incumbent MLA of Nungba, Gaikhangam, former Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur and Member of Congress Working Committee.
Till the filing of this report, Congress and National People’s Party won three candidates each while Janata Dal (U) won four seats. Two independent candidates won, including Sapam Nishikant Singh, the richest candidate among the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections 2022 from Keishamthong.
