Kishan Boliya, 27, was murdered on Tuesday (January 25) in Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad Rural, Gujarat. The VHP had called for a bandh in Ahmedabad on Thursday (January 27) to protest the murder and demand justice for Boliya.

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat police have arrested Sabbir, Imtiyaz Pathan and Maulana Mohammad Ayub for the murder of Kishan Boliya.

The police investigation has revealed that Maulana Mohammad Ayub is the conspirator in the case and also arranged the weapon for murder. The police are still looking for another Mumbai based Maulana who is also involved in the murder plot.

Boliya had posted a Facebook post on January 6 which they alleged was blasphemous. A police case was also registered in the case. Sabbir and Imtiyaz, with the help of two Maulanas had started plotting the murder of Boliya.

“The deceased had posted a Facebook update on January 6, 2022, in which he had written objectionable comments against a religion. An FIR was lodged against Kishan then at the Dhandhuka police station after a complaint. After Kishan received bail, the duo (Sabbir and Imtiyaz) made up their mind to kill him and were provided with the gun and ammunition by the Maulana,” a senior police official at Ahmedabad Rural said.

Gujarat State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi assured speedy justice in the case.

Ministers Harsh Sanghavi and Kiritsinh Rana visited the family members of Boliya on Friday (January 28) and assured the family that all accused will be arrested soon.

“After Kishan was murdered, the Ahmedabad police formed separate teams and nabbed the accused within 24 hours. The state government is monitoring the case and is actively working to ensure justice to Kishan…In order to ensure that this case is investigated appropriately, Gujarat ATS and Ahmedabad Crime Branch have been investigating the case from different angles. The government will hire the best lawyer in the state and murders of Kishan will be punished,” state Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has been demanding the arrest of all the accused at the earliest and justice for Boliya. It had called for a bandh in Ahmedabad on Thursday (January 26).

Gujarat VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput said, “We know that some Muslims were angry at Boliya and had even threatened him recently over that social media post. We want the police to catch all the culprits who are behind the murder of the Hindu youth. They must be tried in the fast-track court. The bandh was successful.”
