Jaipur: The National Commission for Minorities Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura issued the notice on Sunday (January 16) asking the chief secretary to submit the report by January 24. The Ashok Gehlot government handed over the investigation into the case to CBI on Sunday (January 16).

The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) took suo moto cognizance of the horrific gangrape of a minor girl in Rajasthan and asked the chief secretary to submit a detailed report in the case by January 24.

The NCM Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura issued the notice on Sunday (January 16).

The NCM said in a statement that chairman has “taken suo moto cognizance of reports appearing in the media regarding sexual assault of a girl reportedly belonging to Minority Community at Alwar, Rajasthan on 11th of January, 2022. Media reports have mentioned that the specially-abled girl has been missing from her house for several hours before she was spotted on a road in a pool of blood.”

The commission specifically asked what measures have been taken to arrest the perpetrators and what measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in future.

On January 11 night, a specially-abled minor girl was found lying in a pool of blood under Tijara flyover in Rajasthan’s Alwar. The victim is currently struggling for her life in KJ Lon Hospital in Jaipur. Multiple surgeries have been performed to save her life.

The medical examination of the victim revealed that sharp objects were inserted inside her private parts which had caused massive bleeding.

Criticising the Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP (Lok Sabha) Diya Kumari said that this government has been an utter failure as far as women safety in the state is concerned. Under Congress rule, Rajasthan has become a rape capital.

“Rajasthan is becoming rape capital. The government here is insensitive and no action has been taken even after 72 hours. These people are trying to hide this incident. There is no law and order in the state”, she said.

After Rajasthan police could not make any headway in the investigation, the Ashok Gehlot handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday (January 16).

In a shocking remark on Friday (January 14), Rajasthan Women & Child Development Minister Mamta Bhupesh said that government can’t do everything to stop rapes and that it was the responsibility of the society.
