Chittaranjan Sonwani said his in-laws pressured him to convert to Islam and even offered a pickup van if he agreed to convert.

In a shocking incident, a man has accused his wife and in-laws of converting his 8-year-old son to Islam in Chhattisgarh. As per the reports, Chittaranjan Sonwani, a resident of the Sanna area of Jashpur, has accused his own wife of getting his 8-year-old son circumcised and converting him.

In the complaint he filed, Chittaranjan Sonwani said his wife had gone to her maternal house in November with their 8-year-old son Saurabh Sonwani, where she, along with her relatives, converted his son into Islam. Sonwani said he married Resham Begum ten years ago, after which both of them were practising Hindu customs in their house in Sanna.

In his written ordeal to the police, Sonwani said that "Since my marriage, I have been continuously pressured by my in-laws to change my religion and accept Islam. In this context, I have been tempted many times by my in-laws. And in the meantime, they even offered to give me a pickup van if I agree to get converted." He added, "I follow the Hindu religion and want to live in this religion voluntarily." He has requested the in-charge officer that strict action be taken against his minor son's conversion. Saurabh's name has also been changed to Shamshad, said Sonwani.

Now, after this whole episode, BJP leader Prabal Pratap Singh Judev said, "In the circumcision case registered in the Sanna police station of the district, it is intolerable to circumcise and convert the son without the consent of the Hindu father. The administration should immediately arrest all the miscreants involved in this and curb the conversion."

At the same time, BJP MP Gomti Sai has also warned to hold for a sit-in if action is taken on this matter. It should be noted that many similar cases have come to the fore even before, based on which many Hindu organizations fear that this can also be a conspiracy to promote conversion.
