In the viral videos, Jawed Habib could be seen spitting on the head of one Pooja Gupta whose hair he is working on.

On Wednesday (January 5), a video of celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib had gone viral in which Habib could be seen spitting on the head of the lady whose hair he was working on.

In a seminar about a haircut in Muzaffarnagar, Habib called Pooja on the stage. He spits on her head while demonstrating the hairstyling.

The victim Pooja released a video in which she said Habib humiliated her and said she only runs a beauty parlour, but he runs more than 900 outlets.

“Jawed Habib called me on the stage and misbehaved with me. He spat in my hair in front of hundreds who laughed and enjoyed his act. He was asking the attendees to make use of saliva when there’s no water available during a haircut”, she said. In the viral video, Habib could be heard saying, “Mere Thook mein jaan hai (There is power in this spit)”.

The UP Police lodged an FIR against him under Section 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour a person, otherwise than on grave provocation) of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.

After the video went viral and police lodged an FIR, Habib issued a statement where he said he was only trying to make a boring seminar funny. “Some people are hurt over some actions that took place during one of my seminars. I have only one thing to say. Those who come to the seminar are professional hairstylists. Our seminars are usually long and so we have to make it humorous…What do I say now? I want to say this straight from my heart – If you are hurt by my actions, then forgive me. Saying ‘sorry’ from the bottom of my heart,” Habib said in a video statement.

Earlier, multiple videos of actor Aamir Khan had gone viral in which he could be seen spitting on his female co-actors. In an interview, he had claimed that his spitting brings good luck to his co-stars. In one interview, actor Pooja Bedi had said, “I’ll tell my daughter Aalia that you have to go and meet Aamir uncle he needs to spit on your hand.”

Recently, many videos of Muslims had gone viral where they could be seen spitting in food items they’re cooking. In Islam, it is believed that spitting wards off bad spirit, and many Muslims believe that sharing ‘spit food’ brings people closer.
