Diganta Biswa Sarma is ready to deliver another series of lecture on "Understanding the universal message of the Bhagavad Gita in the light of Sri Aurobindo" in IIT Guwahati and Assam University, Silchar

Guwahati: His devotion for the works and path shown by Rishi Aurobindo, motivates him to speak in public. This motivation has now taken the shape of a passion, which Diganta Biswa Sarma is carrying forward to educate young minds about the great works of Sri Aurobindo. Guwahati based Sahitya Akademi award winner author, speaker Diganta Biswa Sarma has created a ‘record’ for being the sole speaker in a year-long series of 150 lectures on Indian culture based on the thoughts of Rishi Aurobindo.

The lecture series  titled "Foundations of Indian Culture focusing on Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy and vision for the evolution of new India focusing on spirituality, empowerment and other issues” was hosted by the Assam University in Silchar.

This is for the first time in the history of Indian Universities in the last 200 years, that a lecture series on a single topic for hundred and fifty hours spanning twelve months, is being organised by any central university in the country. The whole lecture series is delivered in English, Bengali and Assamese. Due to the pandemic situation the lecture series was delivered through virtual media to hundreds of its participants.

The series of lectures are based on Sri Aurobindo’s cultural opus titled ‘The Renaissance in India and Other Essays on Indian Culture’. Shri Sarma had received the Sahitya Akademi award for translating this book into Assamese.

Sarma told the Organiser that none before him had, in the 200 years of India’s modern university history, achieved such a feat solely throughout a year on the same topic in three languages simultaneously.

After the successful completion of the series,  Assam University’s Centre for Studies in Human Development has again invited Diganta Biswa Sarma to deliver a series of lectures across 150 sessions for a year from February 2022. The series is on "Understanding the universal message of the Bhagavad Gita in the light of Sri Aurobindo".

The Indian Institute of Technology -Guwahati has also invited him for a similar 150-session lecture series starting from February 2022 where students of IITs and faculties will be given a chance to join.
