Established in 2020, the university is inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and offers interdisciplinary courses for integrated learning.

Established in 2020 in Haryana’s Sonipat under The Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2020 and as per Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, the Rishihood University believes in learning which helps one in attaining Rishihood.

The university is deeply inspired by Swami Vivekanand who once said, “The leaders of our society have never been generals or kings but Rishis. When you are a Rishi, you become a blessing to mankind. This is Rishihood.”

It offers multiple graduation and post-graduation courses which aim to not just empower the students through learning but also develop their overall personality. The university believes in developing ‘Rishis’ of tomorrow who will contribute to the welfare of the society.

Shri Suresh Prabhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and former Union minister, joined the university as founding Chancellor. Shri Prabhu said that education with emphasis on skill development is the need of the hour and the Rishihood University is working in that area. He further added that skilled learners are not job seekers but job providers and also, they engage withy society to solve its problems.

The university is deeply inspired by the idea of AatmaNirbhar Bharat. So, it is finding ways to operate more sustainably through a range of practical initiatives. It has 14 6-feet deep pits for water-harvesting, guided by the idea that water is a very precious natural resource and must not be wasted.

The Air Conditioning system at the campus is designed at 26 degrees Celsius with fans to reduce the energy requirement. It also grows organic food on the campus. It has five schools, School of Creativity, School of Education, School of Entrepreneurship, School of Healthcare, Rashtram School of Public Leadership and one Incubation and Venture Funding centre to support start-up idea of its students.

Together, these schools offer more than 20 courses from graduation level to executive programmes. Shri Shobhit Mathur, Dean, Rashtram School of Public Leadership, said, “Rashtram School of Public Leadership is our humble attempt to create self-aware and civilisationally-assured public leaders of India, through three key domains: thought leadership (academia), community leadership (civil society) and political leadership (politics) to bring about a systemic transformation in India’s polity.”

He added, “Rashtram School of Public Leadership nurtures ‘self-aware’ and ‘civilisationally-assured’ public leaders who are nourished by Indic knowledge traditions and systems of thought.”

Its School of Entrepreneurship focus on developing leaders for micro and small enterprises. Shri Mukesh Gulati, Member, Board of Studies, School of Entrepreneurship said that it’s very unfortunate that in a country as big as India and where so much economy is dependent on micro and small enterprises, very few schools focus on developing the leadership for this sector. The Rishihood University will train leaders for this sector.

The Narendra Modi government has implemented National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which aims to not just impart quality education but also prepare leaders for tomorrow. Together with Skill India programme, it’ll be a massive game changer for the country.

“India is, after all, the land of Nalanda and Takshshila, of Aryabhata, Bhaskaracharya and Panini. Gandhiji compared the indigenous educational system with a beautiful tree that perished under colonialism. An effort is being made to rediscover its best aspects so that India makes a contribution to the world that it alone is destined to make”, President Shri Ram Nath Kovind said in Kasargod, Kerala, on Tuesday (December 21).

He added “the NEP can become instrumental for India to harness and reap the demographic dividend.”

The University was to inaugurate its physical campus last year but the Covid-19 pandemic delayed the programme. The campus is ready to be inaugurated.

Sahil Aggarwal, Co-founder and CEO of the university, said that despite Covid-19 pandemic challenges, the university organised more than 100 events including expert talks and high-profile summit. AatmaNirbhar Summit was organised to celebrate the idea of self-reliance. The university has multiple expansion plans in place.
