Bengaluru: The police have registered cases against ten PFI terrorists for the attack on Uppinangady police station in Dakshin Karnataka and injuring police personnel on December 14, the police said on Thursday.
According to a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector N.K. Omana, the accused individuals ‘illegally grouped and pelted stones on the police station.’ The PFI terrorists also ‘caused damage to the police vehicles and the government properties.’
The case has been registered against Mohammad Tahir, Swadiq, Abdul Mubarak, Abdul Shareen, Mohammad Jahir, Sujir Mahammad Faizal, Mohammad Haneef, Kasim, Mohammad Ashif and Thufail Mahammad K and others.
Following the incident, the state police have imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 in four taluks of Dakshina Kannada district until Friday midnight. The PFI terrorists stormed the police station on Thursday night after an agitation demanding the release of three PFI and SDPI workers who were arrested for rioting.
According to reports, a group of about 300 people barged into the police station with weapons and attacked police officers.
Meanwhile, PFI State Secretary A.K. Ashraf has announced a protest march in Mangaluru on December 17, condemning the cane-charge on protesters by the police.
Earlier this year, two PFI-SDPI operatives with explosives were arrested for plotting terror attacks on Basant Panchami. PFI is a new avatar of SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India), which was founded by JIH (Jamaat-e-Islami Hind). SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) is the political arm of PFI and had forged tactical alliances with parties like Congress and CPM in South India.
