‘Swarnim Vijay Parv’ was celebrated at India Gate on December 12 and 13, 2021, to commemorate 50 years of India’s historic victory in the 1971 war and the Indo-Bangladesh friendship. Major weapons and equipment used during the 1971 war were displayed along with the snippets of major battles. Highlights of the address by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh are:
- Paid rich tributes to brave Indian soldiers who ensured victory
- In the untimely death of General Bipin Rawat, India has lost a brave soldier and an able advisor
- 1971 war victory as an epitome of the spirit of humanity and universal brotherhood of Indians
- India never invaded any country nor captured an inch of someone else’s land
- Pakistan wants to disrupt peace in India by promoting terrorism and other anti-India activities
- We have won the indirect war, and victory will be ours in indirect war as well
- Our aim is to keep our Armed Forces ready for any eventuality
- 1971 war was a shining example of jointness and integration among the three Services
- Reiterated Government’s resolve to ensure the welfare of Ex-Servicemen.
