‘Swarnjayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra’ by BSF from Kolkata to Assam to celebrate 50 years of the Bangladesh Liberation

Guwahati: In the context of the Golden Jubilee Year of Bangladesh liberation war 1971, India’s victory over Pakistan and the incomparable contribution of BSF in the victory, the Swarn Jayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra comprising six vehicles were flagged off from BSF South Bengal Frontier Headquarter Kolkata by Sh Y B Khurania, IPS, ADG (EC) and Mr Toufique Hasan Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner at Kolkata. The Yatra reached at BOP Saryu (169 Bn BSF) under Sector Headquarters Gopalpur on 15th Dec’ 2021. Sh Subay Singh Yadav 2IC/Officer, Commandant 169 Bn BSF and Sh Achintya Kumar Hajra, SDM Mathabhanga,  Surojit Mondal, SDPO Mathabhanga,  Sambal Jaha, BDO Mathabhanga, Dr Sulagna Dutta, Principal Mathabhanga Degree college and  Kartik Chandra Barman,  Principal Mohonpur Savitri Vidya Mandir School, Mathabhanga, along with a large number of villagers, teachers and students warmly welcomed the Yatra. They wished the Yatra success. 

During the programme, documentaries, short movies and photographs related to ‘Bangladesh Liberation War 1971’, the role of BSF in raising Mukti Bahini and the role of Mukti Bahini in Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 were screened. A large number of students, NCC Cadets and people of bordering areas witnessed the exhibition and admired the role of BSF in the 1971 war. People said that this is a very welcome initiative for the cordial relations between the two countries.

On 16th Dec 2021 the Yatra displayed videos/ photographs related to ‘Bangladesh Liberation War 1971’ in Coochbehar College, Coochbehar in which the local population including panchayat members, school children and prominent personalities were present.

It is pertinent to mention that Border Security Force on 03rd Dec’ 2021 kicked off the 1,200-km long “Swarnjayanti Shaurya Pradarshani Yatra” from Kolkata to Guwahati to commemorate the 50th years of the “Bangladesh Liberation War”. The Yatra entered the area of the BSF Guwahati Frontier after paving its way through bordering districts of Kolkata, Murshidabad, Malda, South Dinajpur, Siliguri and Jalpaiguri all along the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
