Guwahati: North East will get its first AIIMS within the next six months. Union Health minister Mansukh Mandviya informed in Guwahati on Sunday. The union health minister visited the AIIMS construction site in Sangsari near Guwahati on Sunday evening. Mandaviya inspected the construction of AYUSH Bhavan, OPD centre and the administrative block of the AIIMS. The Guwahati IIT is supervising the construction of AIIMS.
Union minister Mandaviya discussed with the In-charge director of IITG Dr. Geetanjali Padmanavan and two construction companies. The Union health minister shows displeasure on the delay in the construction of the AIIMS building and orders the construction companies to complete the works on time. He asked Guwahati IIT to monitor the proper construction of the premier medical institution.
On the other hand, Mandaviya instructed them to start the faculty recruitment process for the institution soon. Mandaviya told the media that the AIIMS would be ready within the next six months. He requested the Assam chief minister to engage an IAS officer as deputy director of AIIMS Guwahati to oversee the construction and other related works. He also said that the health minister of Assam was also with him, and they reviewed the various aspects related to the establishment of AIIMS, Guwahati.

Mandaviya Visited the Inpatient Department of Khandro Drowa Zangmo District Hospital, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. He Interacted with patients there and also distributed fruits among them. Mandaviya said, "We are working in mission mode towards creating a robust health infrastructure in the 'Land of Rising Sun".
