Notorious Maoist and terror symbol in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, Ramakrishna alias Hargopal has died at an unknown place amidst the dense forests of Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. With the death of Ramakrishna, a barbaric era of Maoist terror has come to an end. Ramakrishna, one of the well-known faces of the Maoists, died in the early hours of October 14. The government announced a reward of one crore rupees on Ramakrishna, a member of the Central Politburo Committee of Maoists. Confirming Ramakrishna's death, Maoist Central Committee spokesperson Abhay has issued a press release on Saturday that the Central Committee member RK died at 6 am on October 14, 2021. On the same day in the afternoon, the Maoists cremated his body.
In the year 2004, Maoists had peace talks with Rajasekhara Reddy's government of Andhra Pradesh, which was led by the Central Committee member Ramakrishna on behalf of the Maoists from Nallamala forests. After this dialogue, Ramakrishna got a separate identity, and he came into the limelight at the national level. However, these peace talks with the government were unsuccessful.
RK alias Ramakrishna was born in 1958 in the Palnadu area of the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. He did his post-graduation from Warangal in 1978 with a mechanical background. After this, he served as a teacher with his father in Guntur for some time. In the meantime, the Naxalite movement attracted RK, and he participated in the Guntur District Party Conference of Maoists in 1980. In 1982, he joined the Naxalites party as a full-time worker. In 2018, Ramakrishna was appointed to the Central Politburo of the Maoists, and in the same year, 24 people, including his wife and child, were killed in an encounter while he managed to escape. Ramakrishna, 66, was a resident of Tumrupeta in the Guntur district and was the top leader of the strategy for the Ultras in the triangular border areas of Andhra, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
He was instrumental in the merger of PWG and MCCI and expanding its base in other areas. Apart from this, he was involved in the 2008 Balimela attack, in which 37 Special Forces personnel were killed. Ramakrishna is considered the mastermind behind all the major incidents, including the kidnapping of Daggubati Chenchu Ramaiah, father-in-law of former Union Minister D Purandeswari. He was also involved in the kidnapping of the Malkangiri district collector. In the last two years, three members of the Central Committee of CPI (Maoist) have died in Dandakaranya/Bastar region. Ramanna, Haribhushan and now the top leader of the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee Akkiraju Hargopal alias Ramakrishna have died after a serious illness. Security forces see this as a major blow to left-wing extremists whose so-called Red Corridor is already shrinking rapidly. Now, after the death of Ramakrishna, the crisis of leadership has also deepened for them.
