‘Left deliberately pushed its people in the academia and manipulated the curriculum under Congress rule’, says C S Sharma

Responding to the recent controversy surrounding the removal of Mahasweta Devi’s Draupadi from Delhi University’s BA (Honours) semester 5 English syllabus, Chandra Bhushan Sharma, who was Chairman of the National Institute of Open Schooling from 2015 to 2020, said that Left Academics Manipulated Indian Curriculum Under Congress Rule.

C. S. Sharma, in his interview with the Outlook Magazine, justified the removal of Mahasweta Devi’s Draupadi from the syllabus, saying that “It is a story about an aberration. Indian society is not primarily oppressive. If you prescribe such a story in the curriculum, it means you have some malice in mind.” He also added that this chapter should never have been included in the syllabus.

Criticising the left for hijacking the university spaces when Congress was ruling India, C.S. Sharma said, “The Congress was in government and it had no interest in universities. But the left had interest. So, the left deliberately pushed its people in the academia and manipulated the curriculum.”
