Guwahati: Assam police successfully busted an international porn movie racket run by a Muslim M Tech student and arrested the culprit, Wahiduz Alom Zaman in Tezpur town. The accused man, Zaman, used international WhatsApp numbers to blackmail local girls in the Sonitpur district of Assam by sending morphed nude pictures of the girls.
The rogue boy collects pictures of local girls from their Facebook profiles and also collects their WhatsApp numbers. Then the accused, using WhatsApp numbers in Africa, Europe and America, try to blackmail local girls. He threatened to make all these nude photographs go viral if his demands were not fulfilled. One of the victim girls tried to commit suicide in Dhekiajuli town in Sonitpur district.
The girl also tweets the matter to the Assam police Twitter handle. Police immediately took action, and the victims family lodged an FIR in Dhekiajuli police station. Tezpur police finally succeed to apprehend Wahiduz Alom Zaman from his home on 22 August. Police recovered a laptop, much digital evidence, mobile phones, several SIM cards, pen drives from his custody. Police sources say that while examining the accused laptop, it was found that the culprit has a nexus with an international porn movie racket, and he used to send porn videos and pictures from his laptop. Police are investigating whether Zaman made these videos or there is a local racket.
The cyber cell of Assam police also found many morphed pictures on his laptop. Sonitpur SP Dhananjay Ghanawat said, "This is the first of its kind of case in our district. The criminal is highly qualified and still involved in criminal activities like extortion, porn video making, blackmailing, etc. We have recovered many porn videos, pictures from his laptop. He used social media to chat with girls, and after that, he used to blackmail them. Several girls have been the victim of the arrested person."
Meanwhile, the police are providing psychological help to the victim girl. Police also requested other victims to come forward if they have faced such harassment by Wahiduz Alom Zaman. It should be mentioned that Zaman has completed his B tech and planning to pursue M Tech in Hyderabad.
