The Taliban is making rapid advances in Afghanistan, and on Thursday (August 12), the terrorists captured Kandahar and Herat.
Fearing the rapid advance of the Taliban, the United States has decided to reduce its embassy strength in Kabul.
It will be sending 3000 additional troops in the next 48 hours to help the evacuation of the embassy staff. It is also deploying additional troops in Kabul to secure the Hamid Karzai International airport.
The airport in Kabul is of major significance for the evacuation of the Americans.
As reported by the Organiser earlier, the US's defence intelligence has estimated the Taliban is making rapid advances in Afghanistan and could isolate capital Kabul in 30 days and capture it in 90 days.
Earlier, the US has issued an emergency advisory for its citizens in Afghanistan to leave the country immediately.
Other countries, too, are considering evacuations considering the rapidly deteriorating security situation in the country.
“The security situation in Afghanistan is serious. The Taliban are gaining ground and development is accelerating more than many had feared,” the Guardian quoted the Danish External Affairs Ministry.
India has already closed all its four consulates in Jalalabad, Herat, Kandahar and Mazar-e-Sharif.
The US is also negotiating with the Taliban in Doha to secure its embassy in Kabul.
