In yet another incident that shows the ruling CPM’s deep-rooted hatred for Hindu culture, the government is all set to bring Malabar Dewaswam Bill to take total control of temples in Kerala’s Malabar region. Malabar Dewaswam Board was established in 2008 by amending Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Act.
Most of the temples in the Malabar region are managed by trusts and the Kerala government has no right to take money from these trusts. CPM government wishes to alter the existing laws to take away the 31,122-acre temple land and generate revenue from them.
Thiruvithamcore Dewaswam Board processes 3300 acres of land, while Guruwayoor and Cochin Dewaswam Boards own 266 and 230 acres of land.
