In Dantewada of Bastar, three terrorists, including the infamous Naxalite Aayta Kohrami, surrendered on Monday morning. Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallav said that the three Naxalites are fed up with the Maoist ideology and want to return to the mainstream. According to them, the fight of Maoists is no longer ideological. Maoists are forcing gullible tribal youth to join the organization to strengthen their weakening power in Bastar.
Kohrami, one of the surrendered Naxalites, had a reward of one lakh on his head. Before surrendering, all three Naxalites were actively involved in Naxal activities.
Two more Naxalites who surrendered along with Kohrami have been identified as Uika Somdu and Kartam Mahendra. With this surrender, the total number of Naxalites who have surrendered has risen to 350, which includes one-third of the awarded terrorists.
It is to be known that the administration and security forces have started the “Lone Varatu” campaign in Bastar and surrounding areas. “Lone Varatu” is a request to the youth who have been misguided to leave the violence and return to the mainstream.
