The Dragon, Wolf and Communism: A Deadly Combination

One year ago, on June 15, soldiers of Bharat and China clashed with each other in the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh. First time in the four decades, such a clash martyring soldiers from both sides occurred. After ten rounds of negotiations, the ground situation was restored but not completely cooled off. The mobilisation of forces on the border is still there, and there is a reason for it: trust deficit. And this is not limited to Bharat-China relations. Globally, despite all efforts to boost the image, no country trusts China because of the deadly combination that it represents in the global power matrix.

Historically, China takes its Dragon status too seriously and has always been an aggressive power. The Chinese elite sustained the middle kingdom syndrome to annex the surrounding territories. Hyper-nationalism and perceived injustice were used to take the Chinese population along. The process started in 1912 itself with the occupation of South Magnolia. After 1949, the Chinese Communist Party taking over the regime, the actual colour of the aggressive dragon was more evident. In 1951, the colonisation of Tibet started. The process continues till now with the murder of democracy in Hong Kong. This display of blatant power is not limited to geographical expansion. Under Xi Jinping’s leadership, China is doing everything to attain the hyper-power status in the institutional, technological, economic and militarily spheres. From debt colonialism to muscle-flexing in exchange for vaccines, all tricks are being used to influence the behaviour of other actors in international politics.

With all shades of cunningness, the wolf warrior tactics adopted by Chinese diplomats in the backdrop of the Covid19 pandemic are more belligerent and antagonistic. All the findings and research indicate the fingers towards China in general and Wuhan Virology Lab, particularly about the origin of the virus. The cover-up is evident, and the unnatural character of the virus is scientifically proven. The Chinese diplomats vehemently defended it by calling for the WHO investigation in other countries. As if the sham of the restricted visit of the WHO team was a great favour to humanity. China is threatening every country that even mentions Taiwan; debts and vaccines are used to force technological access of Chinese Trojan horse-like Huawei. Even colonised friends like Pakistan are not spared while demanding the handing over Ughurs Muslims fled from South Turkistan, which China terms as Xinxiang, fearing the persecution from Beijing.

The ideology of Communism is the last but most crucial trait which adds justification for violence and abuse of democratic rights. Since its inception, Communism has given rise to dictatorial regimes that use blatant force against their people. The same undemocratic powers also employ militarism and expansionism as foreign policy tools. Destabilising democracies and weakening the ruled based global order is their prime objectives. In the name of peoples’ revolution, communist rulers show all the fascist tendencies, and the CCP regime is not an exception to the same.

There is nothing wrong with being assertive and revisionist. If we want the world order to be ruled based, neither Americanism nor Chinese characteristics can ensure it. The true multi-polarity with respect for global diversity can only ensure international peace, stability and prosperity. The revisionism of CCP led China is the combination of power, cunningness and violence. This deadly combination is a sure recipe for instability and war. Hence, while engaging with China diplomatically, exposing and weakening this red dragon with the mutant characteristic of the wolf is necessary. Bharat, with its proximity and unsettled boundary dispute, has a role to play in this process. One year of Galwan is a reminder of the same.
