RSS volunteer from Agra, Amit Jaiswal, succumbed to Covid-19 on April 29. His mother, Raj Kamal Jaiswal, too passed away on May 9.
Both had tested positive on April 19 and were admitted in Niyati Hospital in the neighbouring Mathura.
ThePrint reported that they were admitted in Mathura as they couldn’t find any bed in Agra.
Another RSS volunteer from Agra and Amit’s friend, Udit, who had been in touch with Amit and his family all along, refuted this.
He said they were admitted in Mathura not because they couldn’t find a bed in Agra but because the Niyati Hospital was a business partner of Amit.
Amit had a business of signboards.
He was followed on Twitter by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
ThePrint had also reported, based on the interview of Amit’s sister and brother-in-law, that the family did not get any help despite putting out tweets tagging PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.
Udit presented many phone recordings and messages to prove that many RSS volunteers, Mathura DM, CMO, Fatehpur Sikri MP Raj Kumar Chahr and officials from the CM’s office in Lucknow were constantly in touch and providing all the help.
They arranged Oxygen cylinders, Remdesivir injection and Plasma.
Some other friends of Amit, Vipul Bansal and Vikas Saraswat, too refuted the claims made in ThePrint report.
Amit’s brother-in-law presented bills of about INR 15 lakh to ThePrint and in ThePrint’s video uploaded on its website, the family could be heard saying they paid bills of INR 25 lakh.
Even with these discrepancies, ThePrint did not bother to cross-check the details.
