A special webinar on ‘Victims of fraud in the coronavirus period: Realise your rights’ was organised by the Arogya Sahayya Samiti. The webinar was headed by Dr Uday Dhuri . On this occasion, Dr Jyoti Kale, the Anaesthesiologist of Shrimati Kashibai Nawale Medical College and General Hospital from Pune, also participated. This programme was viewed by 6632 people on Twitter and YouTube on Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

As per Dr Dhuri, a patient infected by coronavirus is hospitalised only when he is in a critical condition. However, since there is no awareness of the rates of patient care prescribed by the Government regarding essential medicines, alternative medicines, our rights, the existing laws, etc., the cheating begins. In such times of difficulty, many of us have given up the idea of fighting against it. Therefore, the cheaters remain fearless. However, one can avoid fraud if they obtain pertinent information about the general laws and medications. Hence we must give a united fight against the scams that take place during the coronavirus period. “We can try to initiate action against the culprits by lodging a complaint with the District Collector, Municipal Commissioner and the Police”, said Dr Uday Dhuri, Mumbai District Coordinator of the Arogya Sahayya Samiti.

At the beginning of this webinar, a message from Sadguru (Dr.) Charudatta Pingale, National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti was read out. He said in the statement, “The administration must keep the social system healthy; because the administration and the social system have become corrupt, we have to speak out against it”. During the webinar, some patients and their relatives from different states narrated their looted experiences. They also said that some of the patients died due to not getting timely treatment. Speaking about this, Dr Dhuri noted, “A large scale loot is going on in the private hospitals against which The Arogya Sahayya Samiti had lodged a complaint with the Thane Municipal Commissioner, particularly against two hospitals in Thane district, ‘Thane Healthcare’ and ‘Sapphire’. A fine of Rs 16 lakh has been recovered from these two hospitals; however, if criminal charges are filed against such hospitals and they are forced to return the money to the patients, the people will get real justice.

Speaking on ‘Remdesivir’ injections, Dr Jyoti Kale said that ‘Remdesivir’ injection is not recognised as a life-saver. Those who are not critically ill benefit from these injections in the early stages, but these injections have alternative medicines as well, including Fabiflu, Favipiravir, steroids, antibiotics, etc., which are equally effective. The administration and Indian Medical Association should enlighten people about this. The event culminated with an appeal to inform their experiences to the Arogya Sahayya Samiti.
