The Election Commission of India Tuesday ordered strict surveillance of TMC leader Anubrata Mondal to ensure “free and fair elections”.
Mondal is the District president of TMC in Birbhum.
The Commission noted in its order “…Anubrata Mondal…should be kept under strict surveillance of Executive Magistrate and CAPF, round the clock from 5.00pm of 27th April till 7.00 am of 30th April for ensuring free and fair elections…”
Mondal was under strict surveillance during Assembly Elections in 2016 and Lok Sabha Elections in 2019.
The Commission also noted the decision was taken “in view of serious complaints and feedback received from various sources and as per the report of the DEO and SP Birbhum.”
The surveillance has to be videographed, as per the directions of the Commission.
