Assam CM Sonowal asks BJP workers to support corona-affected families

Guwahati: Assam chief minister and senior BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday asked the saffron party leaders and workers to engage themselves in serving common people fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. Interacting with BJP office-bearers in different levels across the State in the backdrop of surging corona cases, Sonowal encouraged everyone to support the corona-affected families with utmost sincerity.

Earlier, Sonowal on Friday took stock of the Covid-19 situation in Nagaon, Hojai and Morigaon districts of central Assam, directed the district magistrates to ensure safety and speed in rolling out the third phase vaccination drive beginning on 1 May next. He also ordered the district authorities to generate total awareness among the common people towards vaccinations and tests.

Speaking about the available health infrastructures to contain the corona infections in those districts, Sonowal asked the administrations to have constant monitoring on the availability of oxygen in their respective territories. He stated that extensive testing will help in identifying infected people and they could be guided for medical interventions including vaccinations.

Sonowal stressed on home isolation for corona-positive cases and maintain constant surveillance on them to determine the need of immediate medical attention. Insisting on people adhering to corona-appropriate behaviour in regards to mutation of the virus, he also asked the authorities to take the help of all stake holders in the fight during the pandemic.

In presence of State ministers Keshab Mahanta & Pijush Hazarika, Nagaon deputy commissioner Kavita Padmanabhan, Hojai DC Sadnek Singh and Morigaon DC Simarekha Bhuyan with other senior police, health officials, Sonowal emphasized maintaining an adequate supply of essential commodities with an eye on price rise in those districts.
