Veteran Hindi writer Narendra Kohli passed away of Covid complications in Delhi Saturday.
 
He was 81.
 
The veteran writer was admitted to Delhi St. Stephen’s Hospital Friday after testing positive for Covid-19.
 
Born in Pakistan in 1940, his family migrated to Bihar after the partition.
 
The news of his passing away shocked everyone.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death saying that he was deeply saddened by the death of Shri Narendra Kohli. He would always be remembered for bringing alive mythological and historical figures in his writings.
 
President Ram Nath Kovind also condoled the death of the great saying Shri Kohli contributed immensely to Hindi literature. He presented our mythological writings to the world in a new context.
 
Shri Kohli arrived on the national scene with his writings about the characters of Ramayana and Mahabharat. His eight-volume writing about Mahabharat, Mahasamar, is considered a masterpiece.
 
His emphasis was always on the revival of culture through his writings. He wrote more than 100 books including novels, essays, satire and memoir.
