While hearing the plea filed by Abdul Nazir Maudany, prime accused in the 2008 serial bomb blast case seeking relaxation of a condition imposed by the Apex Court when he was given bail on 11th July 2014, The Chief Justice of India Justice S A Bobde observed that Maudany was a dangerous man and has involved in very serious crimes.
A three-judge Bench of CJI Bobde, Justice Bopanna and Justice Ramasubramanian was hearing an application filed by Maudany, Kerala-based PDP Chairman. The Court has asked the petitioner counsel to check if Justice Ramasubramanian who is part of the present Bench, has appeared for Maudany in the past.
During the hearing, Sr Adv Jayant Bhushan appearing on behalf of Maudany submitted that they are seeking modifications in bail condition what he could travel outside Bengaluru.
“You are a dangerous man,” CJI remarked.
Abdul Nazir Maudany has been accused of carrying out various terror activities including the Coimbatore bomb blast case and Bengaluru blast. In connection with the Bangalore blast case, police had presented phone records to the court proving that Madani contacted the main accused Lashkar-e-Toeba terrorist Thadiyantavide Nazeer several times before and after the blast.
In Kerala, the Communist Parties have always maintained strong relationship with the political outfit, PDP, founded by Maudany.
