Assam: CM Sonowal enhances State tourism initiatives

In a move to give a fillip to Assam?s tourism sector, State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal handed over sanction letters to 34 beneficiaries under the Amar Alohi scheme

Guwahati: In a move to give a fillip to Assam’s tourism sector, State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal handed over sanction letters to 34 beneficiaries under the Amar Alohi scheme. The senior BJP leader also distributed electronic gadgets to them under Parjyatan Sarothi initiative at a program organised in Deepor Beel locality, where Sonowal inaugurated a country boat service for tourists.
 
The village homestay (AmarAlohi) scheme was launched to infuse self-sufficiency among the educated unemployed youths of the State which is expected to facilitate accommodations with food items to tourists in rural areas. Under the scheme, stilt houses to be built in sync with natural milieu with a financial outlay of rupees 10 lakh (of which 80% will be borne by the State government as a subsidy).
 
Under the ParjyatanSarothi initiative around five thousand people engaged in the tourism industry would be given electronic gadgets for facilitating online booking other features. Sonowal in his speech insisted on promoting the eco-tourism in the State.
 
In presence of ATDC chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah, State tourism comm & secy Mukesh Sahu, Parliamentarian Queen Oja, legislator Ramendra NarayanKalita, with other dignitaries, Sonowal mentioned about Uttaran scheme where rupees 10 crores was sanctioned to promote tourism surrounding the popular wetland.
