National Investigation Agency on Tuesday released the details concerned with the terrorist links in the Trivandrum Gold Smuggling case which rocked the government. NIA in the charge sheet filed against 20 accused, stated that the defendants formed a terrorist group and planned to destroy the economy of the nation.
NIA in the charge sheet stated that the defendants recruited people into the group and even funds were raised, including from abroad to form the terrorist group.
The group aimed to undermine the country’s economic security. They also aimed at severing ties between India and the UAE by making use of the diplomatic channel for smuggling, stated NIA in the charge sheet.
Nine accused were to be arrested in connection with the case. However, the charge sheet does not mention the involvement of Chief Minister’s former Principal Secretary M Sivasankar.
