T. Sankaran alias Sankarji (70), senior RSS Pracharak, died of prolonged illness on December 17, 2020 at Madhava Nivas, Kerala Pranth Karyalaya in Kochi. Sankarji was the Kerala Pranth Vyvasatha Pramukh of Kerala RSS. Sankarji belonged to Chittoor, Kochi. He has been an active Sangh worker since early 1960s and held various responsibilities in in his native village. He came out as a Pracharak in 1975. He was arrested, while working underground, during the early months of Emergency. He was jailed under MISA until the Emergency was lifted. For the next for years, he worked as Zilla Pracharak in several parts of the state. Then he was assigned to work as the state organising secretary of Van Vasi Kalayan Ashram during the regime of legendary Pracharak, K. . Bhaskar Rao, the national organising secretary of the organisation. Sankarji was an RSS Pracharak par excellence with exemplary qualities.
Sankarji was a man of incredible qualities and simple life style. Wherever he went swayamsevaks and families who were familiar with his simple but peculiar food habits were always happy to host him. He handed over the ancestral property, he got after family partition, to a trust manned by Sangh workers. Now, it is the nerve centre of Sangh work in Chittoor.
Former Akhil Bharatiya Boudhik Pramukh Ranga Hariji, Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Sadasyan S. Sethumadhavan, Kshtiya Vishesh Sampark Pramukh A. Jayaklumar, leaders of Sangh-inspired organisations and hundreds of Swayamsevaks paid homage to the departed soul while his body was laid in the main auditorium of Pranth Karyalaya. Sankarji donated his eyes, after his death, as per the agreement he had signed.
