Human rights whistleblower Legal Rights Observatory has revealed that Punjab based NGO Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya Qadian has collected 198.26 crore rupees in the past three years, violating all the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) rules of the land. Over the past 14 years, the NGO has received 628.18 crore rupees from abroad. Foreign funds are sought in the name of religious publications, building mosques and houses for the members of Ahmadiyya community. But there are only 6,000 community members in Punjab and nearly 1.5 lakh all over India. LRO has complained of the irregularities in Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya Qadian with the Union Home Ministry.
There have been multiple instances of NGOs affiliated with the minority religions receiving millions of dollars from foreign nations in the name of charity. But usually, these funds are used for evangelical purposes, religious conversion and terror-related activities. Earlier, there even reports of Iran, Turkey and Pakistan aiding Islamic NGOs operating in India to carry out anti-India activities. Proxy wars launched by these nations have the secret blessings of China. Union Home Ministry had recently amended FCRA rules to make the funding more transparent. There are intelligence outputs of reduction in terror activities in India following the ministry’s scrutiny of NGOs receiving foreign funds.
