Sindh province of Pakistan has always been in the news for the rampant abductions of Hindu girls, their forceful conversion into Islam, hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. In another testimony of religious intolerance and hatred, an ancient temple of Goddess Durga in Sindh has been brutally attacked by an Islamist mob.
In Nagarparkar, Sindh province of Pakistan, the fundamentalists vandalised an ancient temple and damaged the idol of Durga Maa. The fanatics did this when devotees offered prayers on the occasion of Navratri.
The ancient temple was allegedly attacked by an Islamist mob on Saturday, October 24. The mob had proceeded to vandalise the temple, desecrate the area and damaged the goddess’ idol after the Navratri prayer. The mob had also tripped down the face of deity and the face of the lion was also damaged.
The information was given by Pakistan’s independent journalist Nayla Inayat on her Twitter handle. Nayla Inayat also posted pictures of the broken idol along.
She tweeted, “Hindu temple in Nagarparkar vandalised and idol of a deity desecrated after the community held Navratri prayers.”
It is to be noted that Nagarparkar is known for its rich historical Hindu heritage. There is also the historic Jabal Durga Mata Temple.
The Sindh region has been constantly witnessing attacks on its minority Hindus over their religious faith. Nagarparkar tehsil has a population of over 90,000 Hindus.
Three months ago, 102 Hindus were forcefully converted into Islam. This was not all, all the idols of Hindu gods kept in a local temple were destroyed and the premises were converted into a mosque.
